UE4

UE4

Within the last couple of days I've been messing around with the unreal engine and have figured out some of the basics, I didn't realise it had such a massive learning curve there is still a lot that I don't understand but I think with time I will slowly get through it and learn how to program bigger games.

The project I started on was extremely similar to God of War's axe throwing system, now I've got the axe spinning when I throw it and it comes back to my players hand but the only problems are that after 2-3 throws of the axe it starts to glitch out and won't leave my hand which has been a big problem and also I would like to move these mechanics over to a new character mesh so it looks better if you know how to improve any of these things please let me know and I hope I can get this problem fixed later on

My video of the project I created.
After I get this project completed I'd like to move into level design and how to make a good looking environment.

God of War

God of War

In the game God of War you play as Kratos and kill many Norse Gods, and in the 3rd one kill all the Greek Gods. This game is amazing and has a lot of super creative features such as the combat system which the developers said they spent years on alone to perfect it. this is what drives the game and hooks people in.

In the latest instalment of GoW you are in the Norse pantheon and own an axe known as the Leviathan axe which has the ability to be recalled to the Kratos like Thor's Hammer Mjolnir, this helps create some interesting combat where you can recall your axe through enemies which deals minimum damage.  the axe is also used in various puzzles throughout the game where you can freeze the mechanisms of some devices to get past the obstacle. later in the game you also find the Chaos Blades which are a fan favourite weapon from the earlier parts of the series.

After only recently completing this game I can say it has some of the best story dynamics I have ever seen and for me rivals stories like The Last of Us which has a great story, I can see these similarities
with the father parts of the game with Kratos being Atreus' father and Joel being Ellie's father figure, I think these dynamics help make a compelling game that really goes into depth with the story.
I think the story as a whole stands out very well with you having to get your dead wife's
ashes to the tallest peak in all the 9 realms while simultaneously trying to stop Baldur (A god and villain of the game) to stop chasing you which eventually results in you killing him. I also think that the twist ending helps set this game up for a sequel that has the potential to be better showing us the wife was a Giant and named Atreus Loki really set the sequel up.

also if you want to see me play games here's my youtube channel:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsKdb-ja4lV5lrMw6QfCgZA?view_as=subscriber
